The UWI Afrikan Society presented their carnival production Lavway: the “I” in Soca, a story that chronicled the life and transformation of Ras Shorty I, also known as Garfield Blackman, the creator of soca music.
In this production, multiple art-forms were combined including spoken word, theatre, singing, West African and Caribbean Folk dancing and drumming.
