The First Club and Association Meetings: Art, Science, and Picnics

After an eventful Orientation Week, student clubs and associations have already begun meeting and hosting activities.

The UWI Biological Society hosted a meeting featuring speaker Saifudeen Muhammad discussing the biodiversity of Trinidad’s elfin woodland forest, and they also promoted the upcoming Matura Bioblitz with the Trinidad and Tobago Field Naturalists’ Club.

The UWI Art Club hosted their first meeting where they played “sketch the suspect” by attempting to draw a suspect based solely on them being described by a witness. The UWI Fibre Arts Club hosted a workshop on crocheting headbands, and then both clubs came together with the Student Psychology Association for a “picnic and paint” where they practiced art, shared appetizers, and enjoyed the cool weather.

The UWI Geography Club also hosted a picnic while the Student Association for Nutrition and Dietetics broke the ice with new members by hosting a game show-style nutrition trivia quiz. At the East Asian Culture Club, members were introduced to the many upcoming events that they had planned while also learning about the culture of China, Japan, and Korea.
