The UWI Afrikan Society celebrated their tenth annual production with a look to the past at previous productions like Wazzala and Lavway.

They also looked to the future, and recognized that as one of the most vibrant societies on campus they “will outlast us and be a haven for others,
if we continue to nurture it.”

Fittingly, the production was called “Aya”, the name for a West African fern symbol that represents endurance and resourcefulness.

The production brought together a decade of expertise in Expression, Rhythm, Movement and Sound and told a story about the ability to not just endure, but to thrive.
