Hiking Mount Tamana is unique for two reasons; Unlike popular hiking destinations in Trinidad like Paria Waterfall or Rampanalgas Waterfall that are on the Northern Range; Mount Tamana is the highest peak on the less explored but smaller Central Range.
The other reason is that this hike begins in the late afternoon instead of the early morning. The reason for the late start is because the main attraction of visiting Mount Tamana is seeing millions of bats fly out of the world famous Tamana Bat Cave.
This cave includes unexplored areas, subterranean streams, and over 11 species of bats. Every night, it’s a natural wonder as they leave the cave to feed. The experience goes on for over an hour, and pictures don’t do it justice.
