T&T Field Naturalists’ Club 2018 Bio Blitz

Every year, biologists, natural scientists, and others with a passion for flora and fauna visit a location within Trinidad & Tobago for the
T&T Field Naturalists’ Club’s Annual Bioblitz.

A bioblitz is an intense period of biological surveying in an attempt to record all the living species within a designated area. The T&T bioblitz is organized by the Field Naturalist club and the UWI Zoology Museum and in the past has been held in several locations across the country including; Icacos, Port of Spain, and Charlotteville.

The activities come to a culmination on Sunday afternoon when the public is invited to explore education displays and the final tally is taken.

From rain forests to shallow reefs, the North Eastern corner of Trinidad offers many varieties of natural habitat. Ongoing development in the area leads to more & more habitat loss every year, making the information gathered in the Toco BioBlitz crucial for future conservation efforts.
